Abstract

The investigation was undertaken to study the moulding characteristics of Red Core sand, known locally as Suldal sand, which occurs about 80 miles from Kirloskarvadi. This sand is obtained from small stream belts which flow on Gokak sand stone beds which belong to the Dharwar system of rock. The sand was supplied by M/s Kirloskar Brothers Ltd., Kirloskarvadi. As received the sand contained 0.8% moisture and was red in colour.
