Abstract

This sand sample was sent by Southern Railway Workshops to investigate its moulding properties. The sand as received was exceedingly fine and contained dust-like particles. Testing methods and materials employed: Standard methods as specified by the American Foundry men’s Society, for sand testing equipment. Chemical analysis of the sand was done in duplicate after standard sampling and drying at 110°C.
