Abstract
About 1 ton of used foundry sand was received from M/s. Bhartia Electrical Steel Co.Ltd., Calcutta, with a request that an investigation may be undertaken to study the possibility of reclaiming the sand for re-use in the foundry. As received, it was dark grey in colour and contained an appreciable amount of lumps due to the bonding materials present in it. Tramp iron and nails were also present in fair quantities.
