Abstract
The reaction between potassium silicofluoride and zircon has been studied under varying conditions of time, temperature, ratio of sand to flux and fineness of sand. The optimum conditions for extraction of zirconium as potassium Fluozirconate have been determined and a recovery of 94% (calculated as zirconium dioxide) has been obtained. The characteristics of the reaction have been briefly discussed.
