Abstract
The paper outlines the importance and review of chemical beneficiation methods for upgrading of low grade ores and their increasing industrial applications in the context of general depletion of high grade ores. Chlorination as a tool in chemical beneficiation has been discussed at some length, particularly the related theoretical and thermodynamical data involved. Application of chlorination to the beneficiation of chromite, ilmenite, vandiferrous magnetite, low grade siliceous nickel ores, Wolframite, etc. have been critically discussed. Investigation on chlorination studies at the National Metallurgical Laboratory has been briefly outlined.
