Abstract
This investigation on Durgapur sand was undertaken on behalf of M/s. Hindustan Steel (Private) Ltd., Durgapur, with a view to determine its suitability for steel foundry jobs. These sample, as received was pale and in the form of lumps of thickly consolidated quartzitic sand-stone. These lumps were crushed, first by a jaw crusher and then in a roll crusher. The product from the roll crusher was sifted through a 12 mesh sieve. That part of the sample which passed through 12 mesh sieve was taken up for investigation.
