Abstract
The mineralogical composition of magnesite from Doba area has been determined by microscopical and D.T.A. methods. Bricks made of a sample from Doba have excellent refractory properties. Experimental details are given. Additions of mineralisers to improve spalling resistance and refractoriness under load to improve spalling resistance and refractories under load are described. The constitution and properties of these refractories are discussed in relation to the nature of phase equilibria involved. The usefulness of this magnesite in relation to the requirements under the Second Five Years Plan is discussed.
