Abstract

Part I- During the part five years from 1951 to 1956 a total amount of 6,06,4000 tons of manganese ores have been exported from Indian and foreign exchange equivalent to Rs. 853,200,000/- has been earned. Deposits of manganese ores are widely distributed in Indian. Important locations of the deposits are situated in Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Bombay, Mysore, Bihar and Andhra. About 85 to 90 % of the manganese ores mined is exported and production of manganese ores in India at present is largely dependent on its demand in foreign market. Nevertheless the production shows a definite tendency to go up during recent years.
