Abstract
The object of this investigation is to compare properties of indigenous silica bricks with those of well known foreign make with a view to determine the draw backs of indigenous bricks, if any, and to suggest ways and means of improving them. With this end in view, samples of six brands of open hearth roof quality silica bricks-two from England, two from America and one each from Germany and Japan- were collected and their chemical and physical properties were compared with two brands of indigenous products.
