Abstract
This investigation was referred to National Metallurgical laboratory by M/s. Tata Locomotive & Engineering Co., Ltd., Tatanagar, who supplied the sample of the bentonite, described as Bentonite ‘R’. The object of this investigation was to determine the optimum percentage additions of the bentonite required for bonding washed Rajmahal sand to obtain requisite range of physical properties for use in modules and also to determine the optimum working moisture range in such synthetic sand mixtures for green sand moulding in a steel foundry.
