Abstract

A Lateritic iron ore from Rajhara Pahar, Madhya Pradesh, assaying 34.14% Fe,19.24% SiO2,18.02% Al2O3, 1.10% TiO2 and 0.13% P, was received from the Indian Bureau of Mines for beneficiation tests, in connection with the Bhilai Steel Project. The sample consisted mostly of hydrated oxides of iron and aluminous mate association. Washing, tabling, magnetic separation, magnetic, separation after magnetising reduction roast, and flotation methods of beneficiation were studied. A good grade of concentrate could not be obtained by any of the above processes due to the intimate association of alumina and silica with the ferruginous minerals.
