Abstract

This investigation was taken up to the instance of Director of Geology & Mining, Madhya Pradesh, who desired a complete investigation of the moulding characteristics of Jubbulpore yellow sand on its suitability for use in the steel foundry. About 2 cwts. of the sand sample were received for investigation in the National Metallurgical Laboratory from M/s. Onama Glass Works, Jubbulpore, owners of the quarry. As received, the sample was pale yellow in colour and consisted of coarse sand grades with an abundance of pea-size lumps mixed finer grades.
