Abstract

This investigation was undertaken on behalf of the Tata & Steel Co.Ltd., Jamshedpur, who wished to ascertain (a) if the citric soluble phosphorous content of Duplex process steel slag could be increased by additions of beneficiated apatite rock without raising the phosphorous content of the steel beyond the specified permissible limit of 0.06%, (b) whether the apatite concentrates could be used for making ferro-phosphorous in an electric arc furnace and (c) to explore the possibility of making thermal phosphates.
