Abstract

Iron-making in Australia was initiated round 1870. Starting from that time on a primitive scale and struggling against heavy odds like, shortage of manpower, the iron and steel industry in the Commonwealth of Australia as it stands today, represent/a proud record of stable achievements in the past and great hopes for the future. The formidable stature it has attained in such a short period, reflects great credit on the foresight and organizing ability on the part leaders of industry in that country.
