Abstract

Alloys were deposited until recently following empirical methods and ability to get the desired colour was taken as an indication of success. The question of depositing alloys within narrow limits of composition has been taken up only in recent years due to the demands of various industries, especially after the work of Buchan & Rae (1), Stout and Faust (2), Monk and Ellingham (3) and others. These authors showed that there are certain compositions where electrolytic alloys are attended with special properties, e.g., they are more corrosion resistant, more adherent to the base metal and so on.
