Abstract
Two sand samples 1)in ‘as-received ‘condition(new sand)and 11)from a foundry moulding pit (floor sand )were received from M/S Steelsworth Pvt. Ltd., Tinsukia, Assam, for investigating their suitability as foundry moulding materials, the new sand was dirty brown in colour and medium to fine-grained in size. The sand sample was excavated from the ordinary soil occurring near Tinsukia, Assam. The sand deposits Up to15’deep have been observed in this area.
