Abstract

The sand sample designated G.S.I-10 was received from Geological Survey of India, Eastern Region. West Bengal Circle. The sample is reported to have been collected from a vast deposit of sand covered by pits in Sonori (latitude 23° 38'10"and longitude 86° 52'30") in Madhukunda Block, District Purulia, West Bengal. This sand was investigated at NML Foundry Station, Industrial Estate, Howrah with a view to study its suitability for foundry moulding purposes. The sand sample was yellowish-brown in colour in 'as received' condition.
