Abstract

Two sand samples designated GSI-14 and GS I-15 were received from Geological Survey of India, Eastern Region, West Bengal Circle. These samples are reported to have been collected from a fairly large deposit covering an area of about 2 square kilometers at Andal (Longitude 87° 13' 05" Latitude 23° 34' 45") District Burdwan, West Bengal. These sands were investigated at NML Foundry Station, Industrial Estate, Howrah with a view to study their suitability for foundry moulding purposes. The sand samples were yellowish-brown in colour in "as received" condition.
