Abstract

The sand samples designated G.S.I -3(Sand No. I) and G.S.I -4 (Sand No. II) were received from Geological Survey of India, Eastern Region. The two sand samples are reported to have been collected from a fairly big working quarry in DumDumi (latitude 23 37' 45" and longitude 86 5*20") District - Purulia, West Bengal. The sand samples namely Sand-I and Sand- II represents Eastern and "Western faces of the quarry respectively. These sands were investigated by N.M.L. Foundry Station, Industrial Estate, Dassnagar, Howrah, with a view to The study their suitability for foundry moulding purposes. The sand samples were yellowish brown in colour in "as received" condition.
