Abstract

The sand sample marked M-S-S-2 was received from the Director of Geology and Mining, Government of Maharashtra Nagpur ,to study its suitability for foundry moulding purposes .The sand was collected from the south sand stone ridge at Phondaghat in Kankavali Mahal, District Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. The sand stone bed measures about 3 miles in length, about 800' in width and 10'in thickness.
