Abstract
A review of the hitherto known processes for recovery of beryllium oxide from beryl has made. The fluoride process was ultimately chosen for running experiments on semi-pilot plant scale and the reasons have been adduced for its choice. The efficiency of extraction by the process and the purity of the product obtained compare favourably with those obtained in America and Germany. An attempt has also been made to evaluate the economics of the process.
