Abstract

Hot-dip aluminising process has been discussed at length including experimental difficulties encountered. Compositions of suitable flux mixtures are given which have proved successful. The effect of time and temperature on the weight of coating has been studied and the structures of the aluminized layer obtained by various aluminum coating processes have been examined. Properties and applications of aluminised steels are outlined. It is suggested that the presence of certain alloying elements in the aluminising both as well as in steel, may give better aluminium coatings on the latter.
