Abstract

The sand received from the Director, Directorate of Geology & Mining, and Maharashtra was invested to study its suitability for foundry moulding purposes. The sand was collected from the Dhurwadi sand stone belt, in village Math, Vengurla Mahal, District Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. The sand deposit measures about 1200' in length, about 500' in width and about 30'in thickness. As received the sand was medium to fine grained and reddish in colour.
