Abstract

A sample of magnesite was received from M/s. Belpahar Refractories Ltd. for investigating the possibility of reducing its silica content, employing only crushing and screening methods. The sample as received assayed 4.1 SiO2 The test results showed that crushing followed by screening did not yield a coarse fraction assaying less than 2% SiO2 . As the original sample itself was high in silica content, this method of upgrading magnesite was found to be unsuitable for the present sample.
