Abstract
The bentonite sample designated as "BR-Bentonite" was received from M/S Hargovindas Shivlal and Company, Bombay. The sample was in powder form and was 1ight yellowish in colour. The deposit of the bentonite sample is located at Ghogha in Gohilwad district of Gujarat State. .Although no survey has been conducted it is estimated that the sample is available to the tune of a million tons. The cost per ton of the sample is Rs. 40/-. The tests conducted on this bentonite sample comprised of the following: moisture content, chemical analysis, pH-values, gel test, swelling index, sintering range, dry fineness, petrological examination, total base exchange capacity, differential thermal analysis and bonding characteristics.
