Abstract

The three integrated Iron & Steel Plants at Rourkela, Bhilai and Durgapur in addition to Tata & Steel Works, Jamshedpur and Indian Iron & Steel Works at Burnpur, all occupy inland locations in the iron ore and coal belts of Eastern India in Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and Madhya Pradesh. The other exception is another inland site viz. Mysore Iron & Steel Works at Bhadravati. The next projected plant which is scheduled to go into production during the Fourth Plan period is also to be located in the Eastern Zone at Bokaro.
