Abstract

The experiments undertaken have shown that it has possible to electro-deposit alloys of the three metals iron. Chromium and Nickel having the composition of a stainless steel using an electrolyte consisting of three sulphates of the metals and di –sodium salt of EDTA. It has also been inferred from the cathodic Potential -current density curves of the three individual metals from the respective electrolyte containing EDTA that the three metals can be co-deposited. The addition of Boric acid in the electrolytic lowers the chromium content in the alloy deposits whereas the addition of 50 gms of di-sodium salt of EDTA raises the chromium content of the alloy. The determined mainly by the nature and composition of the electrolytes and the physical and chemical conditions of their deposition.
