Abstract
Modern techniques such as vacuum stream degassing ,vacuum melting and casting ,consumable electrode vacuum are melting and electro-slag re-melting are employed in steel refining to achieve super clean and pure alloy having a minimum of unwanted gaseous impurities. All these processes expect electro-slag re-melting require high capital investment and complex vacuum equipment. Electro-slag melting is employed industrially in advanced countries for the production of alloys, such as ball bearing steels, heat resistant alloys, stainless steels etc. The simplicity and the ease of operation of this process have aroused great interest in the metallurgical field.
