Abstract
Three quartzite samples marked A(ASS), B{ASQ) and C KTB) assaying 94.44% SiO2, 0.87 Fe2O3; 92.48% SiO2, 0.56% Fe2O3; and 88.91% SiO2, 0,53% Fe2O3 were received from Shri Lakshmi Prasad Sao of Chaibasa for making them suitable for foundries and glass making by simple processes of crushing, grinding and washing. Felspars were the predominant gangue in all the samples. G sized proudest obtained from samples A and B assayed over 96% SiO2, which satisfied the specifications for grade "B" foundry sands and may also be used for ordinary glass making after magnetic separation. 3ample "C" may be utilized only as of grade "C" foundry sand after washing and magnetic separation.
