Abstract
The iron ore sample from Daralmata, Rajasthan, assayed 40.8% Fe, 40.37% SiO2, 0.8 Al2O3,0.2%MgO, 0.03% P and 0.13% S. Quartz which was the principal gangue in the sample was liberated at -48 mesh size. Gravity separation employing spiral and table yielded a concentrate assaying 62.0% Fe and 10.2% SiO2 with a recovery of 84.7% Fe. Magnetic separation at-48 mesh after reduction roast treatment produced a magnetic product assaying 64.8% Fe and 8.37% SiO2 with a recovery of 90.0% Fe. Flotation tests in natural and acid circuits using fatty acid and petroleum sulfonate as collectors yielded concentrates assaying 60.7% Fe and 64.07% Fe with recoveries of 78.5% and 82.3% iron respectively.
