Abstract

Utilization of mining & metallurgical by-product and wastes employing mineral beneficiation techniques has been discussed on the basis of extensive research investigations undertaken at the National Metallurgical Laboratory. The importance of the techniques formulated becomes apparent when relative simplicity of their application is balanced against economics at the mine site or at the source of raw materials. Utilization of the leaner ores as well as the fines resulting from mining operations, will not only improve the economic but will also yield a high grade product acceptable to the metallurgical industry. The role of these applications, can be extended also to the recovery of metallic or other similar products from the metallurgical rejects such as drosses, slags, flue dust etc. and beneficiation and reclamation of foundry sands, rejects from beneficiation plants, mines etc.
