Abstract

Studies undertaken on a sample of low grade Selenite assaying 27.54% SO3 (Selenite equivalent 59.21%) 28.02% CaO, 12.28% SiO2, 3.69% Al2O3, 4.74% CO2, 13.17% H2O, 2.43% MgO and 1.33% Alkalies, and received from the Director of Mines and Geology, Government of Rajasthan indicated that straight washing of the original sample or -3/8” crushed sample would yield Selenite concentrates of over 97% CaSO4.2H2O with recoveries ranging from 87.6% to 97.2%. The Concentrates produced may be considered suitable for the manufacture of “Plaster of Paris”.
