Abstract

Beneficiation studies were conducted on a low grade disseminated variety of fluorspar sample from Ambadongar mines, Gujarat State, assaying 34.7% CaF2, 56.0% SiO2, 1.7% Al2O3, 1.7%CaCO3, 0.3%S, and 3.3% Fe2O3 received from Geological Survey of India to investigate the possibilities of upgrading it for use in metallurgical and chemical industries. Batch flotation tests followed by cleaning of the rougher concentrate after grinding and employing Oleic acid emulsion as collector and a combination of sodium silicate and Katha (tannin extract) as department for siliceous and Calcitic gangue indicated that concentrates suitable for use , in metallurgical as well as acid industries could be produced, from the low grade fluorspar sample.
