Abstract
The object of this investigation was to conduct a preliminary survey of indigenous foundry sands suitable for the production of piston ring castings. The production of piston ring castings has only recently been initiated in India and considerable difficulty is experienced in their successful production due to want of suitable moulding sands. It is, therefore, hoped that with exploitation of indigenous sand resources best suited for these castings, this essential industry will be benefited.
