Chromium and Nickel plating on Aluminium –Part I

Abstract

Aluminium and its alloys do not respond the cleaning and etching treatments usually employed for other metals. The conditioning treatments prior to plating on aluminum are an important operation. Results of experiments carried out with a view to obtain satisfactory adhesion of the nickel plate on aluminium are given in this report. Excellent adhesions of nickel and chromium plates on aluminium have been obtained and the plated coatings have withstood bonding as well as other qualitative adhesion tests.
