Abstract

As desired by the Superintendent of Prospecting, Messrs. Tata Iron & Steel Company, two batch tests were performed with the Humphrey’s spiral using (1) the soft ore, and (2) the mixed hard and soft ore. The tests were conducted mainly with a view to improving; if possible, the chromite recovery as a district contrast to the previous tests reported earlier, viz. R.R.3 and R.R.6, when high grades of concentrate were aimed at. The soft ore when ground to -65 mesh gives a good grade of concentrate (48.95 percent Cr2O3) as well as recovery (over 80 percent).
