Abstract

Inhibitive performance of pyridine, 2-picoline, 3-picoline and 4-picoline on corrosion of mild steel in 6M hydrochloric acid(HCl) was studied. The efficiency of these inhibitors could be improved by incorporating some inorganic anions into the system. This is attributed to a kind of linkage between organic cation and inorganic anion leading to stronger adsorption which followed Langmuir isotherm and is in the order pyridine < 3-picoline < 2-picoline, 4-picoline.
