Abstract

Two methods for recovery of pure metallic nickel from silver refinery waste liquid having the composition nickel sulphate -2 gms, zinc sulphate -2gms Sulphuric Acid -3.6gms in an aqueous solution of 100 ccs have been investigated. Zinc is removed as zinc sulphide by passing hydrogen sulphide into slightly acidic solution. Residual solution containing in is electrolysed in ammoniacal or slightly acidic medium. Both the methods furnish pure metallic nickel at a cost of 2 KWH per pound of nickel under properly controlled conditions.
