Abstract

Two synthetic facing sands and one backing sand were received from M/S Southern Railway, Golden Rock, Madras to find out their suitability in the preparation of molds. The synthetic. sands were designated as green sand facing and dry sand facing. The green sand facing was black in colour, and the dry sand facing broWn and the backing sand black. The two facing sands were in disintegrated form and no Dumps or gritty materials were present. The backing sand, however, contained it. and they were crushed after drying
