Abstract

The vanadium bearing titaniferrous ores of Bihar and Orissa contain 0.8 to 1.8% vanadium with 10 to 20% titanium dioxide. The paper records the Results of studies carried out for the recovery of vanadiun pentoxide by salt roasting, leaching, and Decapitation by the adjustment of PHz The factors studied for roasting include the effect of (a) particle size, (b) temperature, (c) different soda um salts, and (d) nineties of roasting. The roasted produce ground and leashed with hot water and vanadium pentoxide precipitated by adjusting the pH to 1. 5 to 2. The effect of the temperature and the pH on the recovery of vanadium pentoxice have been recorded. The overall recovery of 60% has been obtained.
