Abstract
Two sand samples, designated Sabarmathy River Sands, one fine grain and the other medium grain were supplied by M/S Machinery & Equipment Manufacturers (Pvt.) Ltd., Ahmedabad to investigate their use in an iron foundry. In the as- received condition, the fine sand sample contained about 4% moisture and less than 1% in the medium variety and was brownish in colour. Small lumps were present in the fine sand while the medium variety was in the disintegrated form.
