Abstract

The decomposition studies carried out on the behavior of Amjhore pyrite samples 1 to 21, it may be concluded that most of the deposits in the vicinity were not suitable for charging into the shaft furnace. The sample No. 19 decomposed at a much slower rate and resembled somewhat mildly the reported behavior of Orkla ores. Duplicate experiments were carried out on the sample No. 19 and similar results were obtained. Further investigations would be carried out on the samples from this area to decide the suitability for charging in the shaft furnaces. Owing to the inherent friable nature of the Amjhore pyrites, it is felt that the deposits examined are not suitable for charging is the Orkla furnaces.
