Abstract

Effects of variations of certain factors inherent in pot milling, on the grinding of sillimanite, have been studied. Duration of grinding has a direct bearing on the production of material finer than 2.5 % from sillimanite sand. Variations in the ratio of weight of pebbles to weight of sillimanite indicate that there is an optimum ratio at which maximum finer than 1%. An important finding of these studies is that grinding sillimanite to finer than 1% releases considerable quantities of alumina that can be leached alumina in sillimanite.
