Abstract

Pilot Plant studies have been undertaken on beneficiation and sintering of a representative sample of iron ore from Barsua Mine for use in Rourkela Steel Plant of Hindustan Steel Limited. Optimum beneficiation cycles based on applications of upgrading techniques such as washing, heavy media separations, jigging etc., have yielded beneficiated ore low in alumina and silica, suitable for iron smelting in blast furnace through direct charging and the use of self-fluxing sinter. Details of the beneficiation cycles have been discussed in this Report in relation to their overall economics of operations and production.
