Abstract

Based on extensive studies made on the beneficiation and sintering of Barsua iron ore (IR/236/62 of National Metallurgical Laboratory) and on the discussions held with the authorities of Rourkela Iron & Steel Plant, a flowsheet has been developed for the beneficiation of iron ore from Barsua mines. The proposed beneficiation plant is designed to treat 10,000 tons of -3” ore per day received from the existing feeders and Double Deck vibrating Screen-sat the Screening station in the Barsua valley can be advantageously utilized, after suitable modifications for wet screening as they have sufficient capacity for the proposed tonnage as given below:- Run of Mines ore crushed to -3”, is discharged from the main conveyor into a bin fitted with two heavy duty feeders feeding ore to two scrubbers at the rate of 360 Tons/hour- The scrubber discharge in each case is fed on to two wet double deck screens fitted with 1” and 1/8” screens. The plus 1” ore is conveyed to a bin with feeder for crushing it to minus 1” a tertiary crusher to be installed. The crusher discharge is wet screened on a double deck screen with 1/2 “and 1/8” screens. The plus 1/8” (about 6 mesh) material from each of the five screens is conveyed to a washed ore for heavy media separation.
