Abstract

This investigation was carried out to study the moulding characteristics of a silica sand received from Section Officer (P.W.D) Egmore, Madras. The sand as received consisted of course to medium grains. The grains appeared to be yellowish white in colour. Standard methods as specified by the American Foundry-men’s Society for testing sands were employed throughout the investigation using Dietert sand testing equipments. The physical properties reported represent averages of three test results.
