Abstract

The object of this investigation was to investigate the behavior of Salem magnetite concentrate briquettes and Neyveli high temperature carbonized coke. Smelting trials were conducted in the Submerged Arc Electric Furnace Pilot Plant of the National Metallurgical Laboratory. The beneficiation of Salem magnetite has already been investigated at the National Metallurgical Laboratory and Pilot Plant of the National Metallurgical Laboratory. The beneficiation of Salem magnetite has already been investigated at the National Metallurgical Laboratory on laboratory and Pilot Plant scale and Reports entitled ‘Beneficiation of low grade magnetite from Salem, Madras’, ‘Reducibility of Salem magnetite ore’, 'Sintering studies on the magnetic concentrate produced from low grade Salem magnetite ore’ and ‘Pilot plant production of concentrate from low grade Salem magnetite have already been issued.
