Abstract

Studies have been undertaken on beneficiation and pelletization of an iron ore fines sample from Pale mines, Goa for Messrs. Chowgule & Co. Ltd. The sample assaying 60.5% Fe, 4.53% SiO2 and 3.9% Al2O3 could be upgrade to 64.3% Fe, 2.76% SiO2 and 2.25% Al2O3 by simple washing and cyclone treatment. Strong pellets assaying 66.67% Fe, 2.12% FeO, 2.9% SiO2, 2.33% Al2O3 and 0.05% P could be produced from the beneficiated sample after grinding, balling and firing of the green pellets. The properties of their transport over long distanced of iron smelting in a blast furnace.
