Abstract

Earlier work in the National Metallurgical Laboratory on the recovery of radioactive minerals from the I.C.C. flotation tailing assaying about 0.014 per cent U3O8 (equivalent) showed that more than 60 per cent of the uranium in the tailing was present in the -200 mesh fraction but the most of this could not be recovered by tabling, although/was found to be the best method in general of concentrating the radioactive minerals present in the tailing. At a meeting convened by Dr.D.N.Wadia, Geological Adviser, on the possibility of recovering the uranium-bearing minerals lost in the slime should be investigated by Mr.P.K.Das Gupta, Ore-dressing Officer A.E.C. in collaboration with the National Metallurgical Laboratory.
