Abstract

The sample of Almora Magnetite studied is a coarse crystalline material. The principal impurities are dolomite and talc, and a very small proportion of chlorite. Even though a small amount of hematite was observed, most of the iron appears to be in the magnesite as siderite in a solid solution, and d.t.a. supports this observation. The lime content of the magnesite is due to dolomite, not calcite. The silica content of the sample is mainly contributed by talc.
